FAMILY CONTINUES GRANTS TO FUTURES PLAYERS

When the Duramed Futures Tour makes its season-ending stop in the Capital Area for the “$120,000 Price Chopper Tour Championship,” September 3-5, besides a trophy and LPGA Tour cards, it will be awarding its second Q-School scholarship grant.

VOLUNTEERING AT 2010 U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN

Editor’s note: Tim successfully drove his own car back to the Capital Area from Oakmont CC in the rain after serving as a volunteer at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open won by Paula Creamer.

OAKMONT, PA – Monday morning on the Volunteer Transportation Committee turned out to be pretty busy after the USGA’s championship.  We helped with player, family, and official’s luggage, returned their courtesy Lexus vehicles to the staging area, and picked up others at their hotels and drove them to the airport. ‘PRICE’ RIGHT FOR FUTURES IN ALBANY

The LPGA’s developmental tour, the Duramed FUTURES Tour, and Schenectady-based supermarket chain, Price Chopper, have teamed to keep the annual stop in the Capital Area.

Price Chopper is now the title sponsor for the FUTURES’ season-ending tournament: the $120,000 Price Chopper Tour Championship, which will be held September 3-5 at the Capital Hills at Albany.

“Price Chopper and the Duramed FUTURES Tour share a commitment to its employees and players, as well as the community,” said Zayra F. Calderon, CEO of the Duramed FUTURES Tour.  “The Duramed FUTURES Tour continues to inspire young girls to become the future stars of the LPGA and we are delighted to be teaming up with Price Chopper as the new title sponsor for our season-ending event in Albany.”

FUTURES FIELDS INCREASE IN SUMMER

Fields for the Duramed FUTURES Tour will expand to 150 players, from 144, during the summer months. Longer daylight hours will enable six additional players to enter tournaments, offering more playing opportunities for the Tour’s membership, according to tour officials.

Duramed Futures players react to Ochoa

Members of the Duramed FUTURES Tour were tuned in to what the world’s top-ranked woman player had to say in last week’s press conference. The LPGA’s top star, Lorena Ochoa of Mexico, who also was the Duramed FUTURES Tour’s 2002 Player of the Year, announced that she will retire from active LPGA membership following this week’s tournament in Morelia, Mexico.

Duramed Futures Tour begins 2010

It seems like just a short time ago, the ladies from The Duramed FUTURES Tour left Albany and the final event of the 2009 season. Well, the 2010 season begins this week in Winter Haven, Florida, followed by the LPGA’s launch of its domestic tournament schedule next week in San Diego.
