NEW TITLE SPONSOR FOR LPGA DEVELOPMENTAL TOUR
LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan and Symetra Financial Corporation CEO Tom Marra announced Thursday, Nov. 17, that Symetra, a Bellevue, WA-based provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance, has signed a multi-year agreement securing the naming rights for the Symetra Tour (formerly known as the LPGA Futures Tour and previously, the Duramed Futures Tour). Futures Tour alumnae Mo Martin and Jane Rah participated in the announcement at the LPGA’s season-ending CME Group Titleholders at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, FL.

Kay McMahon
TOP TEACHER TO BE INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME NOV. 14
Kay McMahon will become one of four members inducted into the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) Hall of Fame.
The LPGA T&CP will honor its newest inductees next Monday, November 14, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL. The four T&CP inductees will be honored as “individuals who have contributed to the LPGA and to the golf industry.”
McMahon served as the LPGA T&CP National President from 1999-2000. With 35 years of service as a club professional and 33 years as a Class A LPGA T&CP member (starting in 1978), McMahon also became the first woman in the Southern California PGA Section to become a PGA member. She became a Class-A member of the PGA of America in 1986.

DELANOY PART OF CAPITAL AREA PLAYERS
After being tied for the lead after the first day of competition at +4, Sue Delanoy of Cohoes finished in a tie for fourth (+18) at the 16th Annual Executive Women’s Golf Association tournament. Delanoy shot 75-85. The player she was tied with eventually won the national event.
Other Capital Area players: Mary Corrigan (1st), Terri Walsh (2nd) and Jen Shoemaker (4th) each participated in their respective flights.

NENY PGA PRO & 3 LADY EVENT
At the NENY PGA Pro & 3 Lady Amateur, held at Wolferts Roost Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the host club took the title. WRCC Assistant Pro David Lis teamed with Debbie Battaglia, Mary Jo Kelly and Susie Reeks to shoot 66-67, each pocketing $210. A second team from WRCC finished tied for fifth.
They won by two strokes over the Herb Moreland-led team from Western Turnpike Golf Course. Colonie Golf & Country Club and Berkshire Hills Country Club tied for third.

2011 HIGHLIGHTS AND MILESTONES
Another season has come and gone on the LPGA Futures Tour and another “graduating” class will be moving on to the 2012 LPGA Tour.
This year’s membership on the LPGA Futures Tour once again reflected a cross section of America, with players from 39 states. Of the states, California led the charge with 38 members. In fact, Californians won seven of 16 tournaments this season, including two wins each by Lisa Ferrero of Lodi and Sydnee Michaels of Temecula.

TEAM TEES OFF IN FALL OF 2012
Add women’s golf to the list of sports now offered by Union College in Schenectady.
The school’s Athletic Department announced Friday that the sport will become the 26th offered and it will be coached by Mary Ellen Burt, who also coaches the school’s women’s basketball team.

Allie Bodemann and Megan McChrystal mark 9-11 in Albany
MUSEUM, RIBBONS, 18TH HOLE FLAG MARK 9-11

You’re on a golf trip and it rains; you’re on a business trip; you’re going to visit a new place, and you’re told: “Let’s go to a museum.” That’s exactly what Allie Bodemann and Megan McChrystal were told during their “LPGA Futures” stop in the Capital Area. McChrystal admitted to thinking: “ugh.”
McChrystal and Bodemann have been good friends since they were five years old. They traveled here together and stayed with the same host family. With torrential rain, the course was closed. The recent college graduates like the mall – the Capital Area has that – and movies but they are also here for business and to get their feet wet, so to speak, in the world of professional golf.
